October 20 is National Day of Writing. MASSA encourages you to put your writing skills to practice. The date signifies the third- annual National Day of Writing. You can participate by writing a letter, an email, making a grocery list, or begin that short story you have been meaning to write. Share what you wrote with your child. Talk about how you use writing in your life to communicate or enhance messages.

Cox is hosting the Future Innovators Night on Wednesday, March 23 from 5:30 to 8:00 pm at the TCC. There will be interactive displays where students can ride an energy bike and eat ice cream made from liquid nitrogen. It is an evening to celebrate Science and all the Science Fair participants. Parking is free on this day.

All around the state of Arizona it is that time of year when students put in extra time and effort to prepare for the AIMS tests. The students at the Math and Science Success Academy are no different. They are getting extra tutoring to help them get ready to do well on these standardized assessments. Math, reading, and writing are being emphasized by tutors for our students.

Honor Roll awards for Quarter 2 will be presented on Friday, January 7. Kindergarten through second grade will receive their awards at 1:30 p.m. in the auditorium. Third through sixth grade will receive their awards at 2:10 p.m. Family and friends are welcome to attend this exciting event.

12/13/2010 - Spend Your Tax Dollars to Better Your Child’s Education

You can redirect your state tax dollars-- up to $400.00 -- to the Math and Science Success Academy to enrich and improve your child's education. In fact, this can be done by any Arizona resident who pays state income tax. This means that you can invite friends, family members, and co-workers to take advantage of this tax credit and help the students at MASSA. The Arizona Tax Credit Law permits this dollar-for-dollar reduction in the actual amount that is owed to the state.

Wednesday, November 3, 2010 from 3:15 pm until 6:00 pm MASSA will be holding Parent-Teacher Conferences. This is a great opportunity for parents to meet with their child's teacher. There will not be any supervision provided by the school on that day and all after school activities including extended care are canceled. 12/04/2009 - Black Stallion Literacy Project

The first grade class is participating in the "Black Stallion Literacy Project". The goal of the project is to motivate students to want to learn to read and read independently. On December 1, the class was visited by a pony and had the opportunity to ask questions, pet a pony and receive a book. The opportunity to pet the pony gives them a real connection to the story. In January, the class will take a fieldtrip where they will spend the day with several horses.
